I really, really do.

Unfortunately, Beer is the sworn enemy sobriety, driving and generally making good life decisions.  I’m fairly sure that beer is why i pulled the pin on applied science at Uni, because drinking was way more fun than pseudo engineering, project management, technical something or other and all that noise.

Fast forward a few years, errr, 6 to be exact, and i still love beer, but rather than drinking “pot-of-draught-thanks-mate”, I’ve got a new game that i play at Dan Murphy’s.

Rules of the game are simple.

You wander around with a semi amazed look on your face (optional), and grab stubbies of as many different beers as the budget will allow, with special preference give to Australian micro breweries, imported German beer bier, and anything that comes in a fancy pants bottle.  You purchase and take home aforementioned beers, and drink with close friend who will also appreciate the beers.

During the tasting, you will probably find that after the 6 or 7th, your critiquing goes from “light hop taste with good bitterness” to “this beer’s pretty f*ckin awesome”, but that all part of the fun.

By the end, you can usually only remember the really good ones (maybe one or two), so make a note about what to grab next time you’re at Dan’s.

My Top Beers of the moment, discover on one of many Dan Murpy’s missions
1) St Arnou – Pilsner
2) Fish Rock Brewery – Leather Jacket
3) Little Creatures – Bright Ale

So there you have it, a way to enjoy good beers and discover lots of new ones.  Not that you hadn’t thought of it already. :P
