Been listening to this in the car for the past few weeks, totally love it for Friday tracks.
Mixed by ex-Sydney sider and now Melbourne local Paul Master, this blend of nu jazz, funk and hip hop is total drink beers in the sun kinda music. Any mix that starts off with something sampling James Brown has got to be good right? Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve finally finished a mix.
Shifting away from the regular breakbeat sounds, but before committing to the new rave/electro sound i’ve been playing with, somehow i’ve squeezed out a tech house mix?!?
Yes, it’s confusing for me too.
To be completely honest, i’ve never heard of any of the artists before, or even dabbled in mixing this kind of sound. I can understand the appeal bu it’s the complete opposite of what i usually do, precise, longish mixes as opposed to heavily sampled, mashed up sounds.
The change of style has also promted using a different moniker. I usually DJ under Rich OK, but decided to use Echo Kinetic, manly due to the significant change in style

Hardly a newcomer to the Melbourne scene, Mish’Chief rocks in with this weeks download.
I first met Mariska playing at Interview at Tilt back in 2006. Me being the fresh faced DJ, still playing his first few gigs, was so massively impressed I’m pretty sure i talked her ear off for the rest of the night, about tunes, mixing, tunes, shit, tunes, parties etc.
Since then, she’s been up to big things, running Instinct with Freya, playing guest spots at Unstable Sounds, Substance, Blackout at Wah Wah and of course Rainbow Serpeant. In my opinion, she’s one of the most underrated Dj’s going around, and she’s an awesome chick to boot.
Let’s get down to the mix. Progressive, Tech with a dash of Electro is order of the day. If you like Dousk, you’ll love this. Unfortunately, due to a bit of a massive fucking breakdown glitch, she couldn’t provide me with the entire tracklist, only the track titles. Fingers crossed, I’ll have the full list up in the next few days.
If you like the set, get down to support a local act, and come and check out Instinct, this Saturday at Vendette.

I’ve finally got my jam on and done a little bit of recording, it’s only a small grab of the demo, but it’s definitely one of my personal favorites. It gets bonus points too because it covers two of my all time favourite artists: Stanton Warriors and The Crystal Method.
The two tracks are: Stanton Warriors “Seeker” (What What What Remix), and the absolute classic “Keep Hope Alive” by The Crystal Method.
You can download the high quality version here: Promo Grab 1 HQ
It’s the first of a handful of grabs i’ll be uploading over the next few days, with the full mix to be uploaded in around a weeks time.
